If you’re specifying or replacing a pool pump for a villa, hotel, or commercial pool in the UAE, AstralPool is one of the most widely recognised brands in the market. Spanish-engineered and built for continuous operation, their pump range covers everything from compact self-priming units for residential pools to variable speed models that significantly cut energy consumption over the life of the installation.
Dave Pools supplies AstralPool pumps and pool equipment in Dubai, stocking the full range for UAE contractors, developers, facilities teams, and pool builders. This guide covers what’s available, how the different pump types work, how to choose the right model, and how to place an order.
AstralPool is a Spanish pool and wellness equipment manufacturer with a global presence across residential, commercial, and public pool markets. Part of the Fluidra Group — one of the largest pool equipment companies in the world — AstralPool designs and manufactures pumps, filters, lighting, water treatment systems, and cleaning equipment.
In the UAE, AstralPool is a well-established specification brand, particularly for hotel pools, large villa developments, and community pools where equipment durability and energy efficiency matter. Their pumps are engineered for continuous duty, built to handle the demands of year-round pool operation in a Gulf climate.

A variable speed pump adjusts its motor speed — and therefore its energy draw — to match the actual circulation demand at any given time. For UAE pools that run filtration cycles year-round, often 8–12 hours a day, this makes a significant difference to energy consumption compared to a fixed-speed pump running at full power continuously.
AstralPool’s variable speed range includes five models suited to different pool sizes and installation requirements:
Models in the variable speed range:
Key benefits for UAE installations:
For guidance on sizing your pump correctly, use our pool pump sizing calculator and see our types of swimming pool equipment guide.
Self-priming pumps are the most common pool pump type on UAE villa and residential projects. They can draw water from the pool’s skimmer and main drain lines without needing to be positioned below water level — which makes installation in a standard above-ground plant room straightforward. To determine the right pump capacity for your pool, use our pool pump sizing calculator.
AstralPool’s self-priming range covers five models for different pool volumes and head requirements:
Models in the self-priming range:
Typical applications in the UAE:
Installation note: Self-priming pumps work most efficiently when the pump is positioned as close to pool water level as possible. Longer suction runs and greater suction lift reduce efficiency and can cause priming issues. For full installation guidance, see our how to install pool equipment guide.
AstralPool’s filter range is one of the most widely specified in the UAE, with the Cantabric and Millennium sand filter series stocked by Dave Pools for villa and commercial pool projects.
Cantabric series: A popular residential sand filter series, widely used on UAE villa pool projects. The Cantabric is known for its durability in Gulf climate conditions, with UV-resistant fibre-reinforced housing and a multi-port valve for backwash, rinse, waste, and recirculation modes.
Millennium series: A high-capacity sand filter series suited to commercial pools and larger residential installations. The Millennium series handles higher flow rates and larger sand media volumes, making it suitable for hotel pools, community facilities, and multi-pool developments.
Cartridge filters: AstralPool also produces cartridge filter systems for pools where sand filtration is not preferred — typically smaller residential pools, spas, and plunge pools where a compact footprint and low maintenance are priorities.
For a detailed comparison of filtration options, see our sand vs cartridge vs DE filters guide, sand vs cartridge pool filters comparison, and best pool filters for Dubai villas.
AstralPool’s LumiPlus range covers underwater LED pool lights and perimeter lighting for residential and commercial pools. The LumiPlus Flexi Mini is one of the most specified products from the AstralPool range in the UAE — a compact, flexible-format LED light that fits into existing light niches and is easy to replace without draining the pool.

AstralPool manufactures water treatment and disinfection products for pool water management, including chemical treatment ranges and salt chlorination systems. In the UAE, salt chlorination is increasingly the preferred approach for villa and hotel pools — it reduces the need to handle and store liquid chlorine, and produces a more stable and comfortable water quality.
AstralPool’s water treatment range covers:

Choosing the right pump comes down to three things: your pool’s volume, the flow rate your filtration system requires to achieve the target turnover time, and the total dynamic head (resistance) in your pipework system.
Step 1 — Calculate your pool volume
Use the standard formulas:
Use our pool pump sizing calculator to get a quick result.
Step 2 — Determine your required turnover time
| Pool Type | Target Turnover |
|---|---|
| Private villa pool | 6–8 hours |
| Residential pool with high bather load | 4–6 hours |
| Hotel or commercial pool | 4 hours or less |
| Pool with spa or water features | 4–6 hours (higher demand) |
Step 3 — Match pump type to your installation
| If your pool is… | Recommended AstralPool pump type |
|---|---|
| A private villa pool (standard size) | Self-priming: Sena, Kivu, Verdon ES, or Victoria Plus Silent |
| A larger villa pool or pool with water features | Self-priming: Senext XP or variable speed: Verdon VS |
| A hotel, commercial, or community pool | Variable speed: Maxim VS, VS VFD, or Victoria Smart Connect VS |
| An installation where energy efficiency is the priority | Variable speed across the range |
| Replacing an existing pump | Match the existing flow rate and port sizes; contact our team to confirm |
Step 4 — Consider the total system
The pump works with your filter, pipework, and valves as a system. Undersizing the filter causes pressure to build up faster. Pipework with too many bends or reductions adds head pressure that reduces effective pump output. For AstralPool filter sizing alongside pumps, see our sand vs cartridge vs DE filters guide and best pool filters for Dubai villas.

A self-priming pump runs at a fixed speed — it’s simple, reliable, and the standard choice for most residential villa pools. A variable speed pump adjusts its motor speed to match your circulation demand, which significantly reduces energy consumption over long daily run cycles. For pools that run 8–12 hours a day, as most UAE pools do, a variable speed pump is generally the more efficient long-term choice.
Start with your pool volume and your target turnover time — for a villa pool, 6–8 hours is standard. Divide the volume by the turnover time to get your minimum flow rate in litres per hour, then match that to a pump model that delivers that flow at the head pressure in your system. Use our pool pump sizing calculator for a starting point, then contact our team to confirm the right AstralPool model for your specific installation.
Yes. AstralPool pumps are compatible with salt chlorination systems. In fact, AstralPool manufactures its own salt chlorination range, so the pump and chlorinator can be from the same manufacturer, simplifying specification and support. For guidance on choosing and maintaining a salt chlorination system for your UAE pool, see our guide to salt chlorination systems for pools.
Dave Pools supplies the full pool equipment system: AstralPool pumps, filters, lighting, and water treatment; Cepex valves; PVC pool pipework; and all the fittings needed to complete the installation. AstralPool pumps are a strong specification choice for UAE pool projects at any scale — from compact villa installations to large commercial pool systems.
